The Last Doll TraditionPosted by Sammi in tradition, quincenera doll, muneca, doll |

So, I found out that I get to be the "Madrina de la Muneca". The last doll Godmother, for my nieces quincenera. For those of you who have not heard about that particular quince tradition, well it has been around for a long time. The story goes that the doll presented to the quincenera will be the last doll that the quince girl gets.
It is to symmbollize the transition from childhood to womanhood. I don't know about you, but nowdays most 15 year olds have already stopped playing with dolls for a couple of years before thier quince comes around.
Still, I think it is a wonderful tradition and I am honored to be the one to present my niece with her last doll. I have not really started looking for the perfect doll, but I better get on it since the quincenera is in January. Did you celebrate this tradition? If you did, tell me about it and what kind of doll you recieved. I really need some ideas.
Thanks.
Sammi

An actual 15in barbie foll dressed like me and then a big porcelain doll dressed like me as well.
I am the first girl in my moms family to ever have a Quinceanera so we are doing my dads family traditions.
The barbie doll is going to get thrown into a crowd of younger family members kind of like a bouquet at a wedding.
The other doll is getting used in my father daughter dance and vals.
