Look your most awesome on quince night. For a monthly rundown on getting your skin, hair and body in phat shape, we got the lowdown from Jacklyn Kim, president of Tiffani Kim Institute Spa in Chicago.
6 Months Before: Visit your favorite full-service spa for skin analysis and nutritional counseling consultations. Work with a certified nutritionist and licensed aesthetician to develop customized nutritional and skincare programs geared to helping you reach your individual goals. 5 Months Before: Check in to follow up on how the skin and nutrition programs are progressing; make adjustments as needed. "At Tiffani Kim Institute Spa we recommend coming in on a monthly basis," notes Kim. "This is especially important with teens, who have a harder time with follow through. Regularly checking in to monitor progress increases the chances they’ll stick to the program while also encouraging them to continue. And since skin problems are so often connected to what we eat, we can monitor and adapt facial treatments and products accordingly." 4 Months Before: Schedule a makeup lesson and discuss colors for your big night. Book a hair consultation that includes trial updos. 3 Months Before: To prime skin to look its softest, indulge in a sea salt scrub. You’ll find it’s not only great for your skin, but for your nerves too. 2 Months Before: Now’s the perfect time to get rid of yucky facial and body hair with waxing treatments, and to tame or define your brows with some eyebrow arching. If you’ve changed your mind or just want to take a refresher course, now might also be a good time for a second makeup and hair consultation. Bring your tiara or hair ornaments, as well as earrings and necklaces, to see how they’ll look with your hairstyle. 1 Month Before: Everything's almost all set and you deserve a well-earned treat. Indulge yourself with another sea salt body treatment or an all-over body massage. For more skin pampering, get a shoulder or back facial, especially if your gown has a revealing cut. Two Weeks Before: Get a cut or trim. If you color or highlight your hair, this is also the time to do it. "he color will still be very fresh for your special date two weeks later," Kim explains. "You also have enough time to fix it if you’re not happy with the results." One Week Before: Chill out! Don't try anything drastic at this point. Come in for eyebrow arching, waxing and a facial (best to avoid deep cleansing facials, which may cause redness and swelling). Day of: Get a manicure and pedicure, and schedule in-salon—or better yet—at-home hair and makeup sessions with your stylist and makeup artist. Enjoy looking—and feeling—your most beautiful! |
